Welcome to CH Dressage

Christine Headley Dressage

At CH DRESSAGE, our mission is to provide exceptional dressage training and horsemanship that fosters confidence, clarity, and connection between horse and rider. We are committed to individualized education, a safe and supportive environment, and a partnership-focused approach that brings out the best in every horse and rider.

CH DRESSAGE exists to empower riders of all levels through thoughtful, structured dressage training rooted in respect, clarity, and communication. We strive to cultivate confident riders, willing partners, and lifelong love for the sport through personalized coaching, integrity, and a positive learning environment.

Founded and operated by Christine Headley, CH DRESSAGE reflects a lifelong commitment to horsemanship. Christine’s equestrian foundation was shaped through the United States Pony Clubs, where she began riding at a young age and ultimately earned her USPC “A” Certification. In addition, growing up in a top-level dressage competition barn immersed her in the standards, work ethic, and daily realities of high-performance sport from an early age. Together, these experiences instilled a deep respect for horse care, rider responsibility, safety, and the belief that strong fundamentals are the cornerstone of success in any discipline.

Christine has trained and continues to learn under some of the most respected names in the sport, including mentorship from Danish Olympian Lars Petersen, as well as instruction from Christine Traurig, Conrad Schumacher, Lilo Fore, Jeremy Steinberg, Claes Bierenbroodspot, Jeremy Beale, and the late Ed Borensen. She is a USDF Gold, Silver & Bronze Medalist, a USDF Certified Instructor, and a USPC “A” Graduate.

Christine’s passion has always been her horses. She deeply values the process of developing happy, confident athletes in true harmony with their riders, while remaining diligent about every aspect of their care. Working closely with a trusted team of veterinarians, farriers, body workers, saddle and bit fitters, and nutritionists, she prioritizes each horse’s overall well-being and long-term soundness. Her diverse background in Dressage, Eventing, and Hunter/Jumpers allows for thoughtful cross-training that develops mentally and physically strong, balanced athletes.

Christine’s training follows a systematic approach rooted in the fundamentals of dressage, utilizing the training scale to guide correct development through the levels. With an emphasis on confidence, clarity, correct basics, and harmony, her methods produce improved quality of gaits, correct biomechanics, and willing, balanced athletes prepared for long-term success.

The Science of Great Coaching: Why Supportive Leadership Wins

Do you know who statistically the best coaches in the world are? Recent research analyzed what separates elite coaches from everyone else, and the answer is going to challenge everything you think you know about coaching success.

The best coaches have one trait that predicts success more than anything else: supportive behaviors. Not toughness, not discipline, supportive behaviors. They use positive reinforcement, active listening, and constructive feedback, research shows this strongly correlates with team resilience and collective efficacy.

The best coaches have emotional intelligence: self-awareness, empathy, interpersonal skills, they adapt to diverse personalities and ignite performance through understanding, not intimidation. The coaches who fail are not less knowledgeable, they just lack the emotional intelligence to connect, the humility to

collaborate, and the patience to support instead of control.
